is an ezine? Ezine stands for Electronic
Magazines. They are online
newsletters and you have to subscribe to a particular ezine to receive it in
your email. Most ezine publishers have made their subscription double
opt-in due to new spam laws and spam complaints.
There
are ezines on just about any subject on the internet: pets, specific
and general health issues, work at home, internet marketing, you name
it.
What
type of information do they provide? Just like anything else, some
ezines contain tons of excellent information while others are nothing but a
bunch of ads from the publisher to get you to buy his/her products or join
the program of the day. You really need to subscribe to a particular
ezine to know if it suits your needs or give you the information you want.
Normally
ezines will have relevant articles and a short note from the
publisher. Most accept articles and advertising from subscribers, and
many of them offer free ads.
Is
ezine advertising any good? YES! It's highly targeted and if
your ad copy is well written and catchy, your response rate should be pretty
good. Before you pay for an ezine ad, make sure you are a subscriber
and that it provides good information.
Odds
are that in ezines that publish more ads than information, people will
become immune to the advertising and just scroll right past all the
ads. Or they will put in their own ad, look for it, then delete the
ezine.
Ezines
base their advertising price on the number of subscribers they have.
Again, you have ethical publishers who will be honest and give you an
accurate number, and you have the others who will increase their
subscription base by several thousand just to be able to charge more for
advertising. How can you tell? Subscribe to it! You see
other ads in the ezine, contact other advertisers and ask them how their ad
performed in that particular newsletter, ask them if they would use it again
for another advertising campaign and why.
